Description
Vervain Mill is an especially charming home set on two acres of gardens on the southeast side of the island, part way up the hill towards Mount Nevis, where ocean breezes cool and refresh. Built during the days of the grand sugar cane plantations, Vervain Mill was originally an 18th century working, wind-powered mill for pressing sugar cane.
Stylishly renovated, the mill with its wonderful ocean views and stone ruins now is a three-bedroom residence with private pool and charming West Indian gingerbread gazebo. The interiors feature a mix of rich dark and light hardwood floors, eclectic furnishings to include iron and painted pieces and original artwork.
The top floor of the tower has two-day beds (in addition to the three bedrooms), a writing desk and a walk out terrace overlooking the ocean.
The middle floor of the mill has an airy bedroom with a queen sized bed and en-suite bath.
The stone walled main floor of the tower houses the kitchen and indoor living/dining areas that open onto a large wrap around terrace that overlooks the ocean and Mt. Nevis.
The garden level offers another two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is very spacious with a queen sized bed and en-suite bath. French doors open from this bedroom to sloping green lawns, the pool and ever-present ocean views. A second bedroom has twin beds and en-suite bath. Access to this bedroom is through the larger bedroom or the terrace.
Outside is a spacious wooden deck and private swimming pool.
